- BPJS
- Indonesia’s public health insurance (JKN). Private plans are usually positioned as a faster “speed layer” on top of it.
- ID: Jaminan kesehatan publik (JKN). Asuransi swasta biasanya jadi pelengkap.
- co-payment
- A share of each medical bill the customer pays themselves. POJK 36/2025 requires a co-payment on health products from 2026.
- ID: Bagian biaya yang ditanggung nasabah sendiri (diwajibkan POJK 36/2025).
- endowment
- A savings-style policy that pays a maturity benefit if you survive the term, plus a death benefit. Money-back, but lower death cover per rupiah.
- ID: Polis tabungan yang memberi manfaat saat jatuh tempo (dwiguna).
- PAYDI
- Produk Asuransi yang Dikaitkan dengan Investasi — the regulator’s name for unit-linked products (governed by POJK 5/2022).
- ID: Nama regulator untuk produk unit-linked (diatur POJK 5/2022).
- POJK 36/2025
- An OJK regulation (effective Jan 2026) requiring a co-payment structure on health insurance products.
- ID: Peraturan OJK (berlaku Jan 2026) yang mewajibkan skema co-payment pada produk kesehatan.
- rider
- An optional add-on benefit attached to a base policy (e.g. critical illness, premium waiver).
- ID: Manfaat tambahan opsional yang dilekatkan pada polis utama.
- RIPLAY
- The official OJK product summary an insurer must give a buyer (Ringkasan Informasi Produk dan Layanan). The policy/RIPLAY is the binding document.
- ID: Ringkasan resmi produk dari OJK yang wajib diberikan ke calon nasabah.
- sum assured
- The core amount the insurer pays on a valid claim (e.g. on death) — the “face value”.
- ID: Uang Pertanggungan (UP) — jumlah utama yang dibayar saat klaim.
- surrender value
- The cash you get back if you cancel a policy early. Often very low in the first years.
- ID: Nilai tunai yang didapat jika polis ditutup lebih awal (sering kecil di tahun-tahun awal).
- Tabarru'
- In Syariah insurance, the pooled fund participants donate into, used to pay each other’s claims (mutual help).
- ID: Dana kebajikan dalam asuransi syariah untuk saling menolong antar peserta.
- unit-linked
- A policy that mixes life protection with investment funds. Returns aren’t guaranteed and early-year fees are high (also called PAYDI).
- ID: Polis yang menggabungkan proteksi jiwa dengan investasi (PAYDI). Hasil tidak dijamin.
- Wakalah
- A Syariah contract where the operator manages the fund on the participant’s behalf for a fee (Ujrah).
- ID: Akad di mana pengelola mengurus dana peserta dengan imbalan ujrah.
