Traditional Life / AXA Mandiri
Asuransi Mandiri Life Protection
Asuransi Mandiri Life Protection is not a life insurance product in the conventional sense — despite the name.
★ The Insurer’s Play
analytical interpretationWhy this product exists
To lock in long-dated, predictable protection premiums — specifically, to capture whole-household budgets rather than single lives and sell a private "speed layer" sitting above public BPJS cover.
What the insurer wants the agent to do
Steer the agent to bundle several family members onto one policy, position it as a fast private top-up to BPJS, not a replacement, and convert protection buyers into investment-linked (PAYDI) policies.

Our read of the insurer’s design intent — not their stated words. Use it to judge fit, not as a fact about the policy.
Who this fits — and who it doesn’t
✓ Fits when…
- Age 22–40, employed, no dependents or one young child
- Monthly income Rp 5M–15M (mass market, budget-constrained)
- Already has BPJS Kesehatan but no private life or CI cover and
- Frequent traveler on commercial transport — domestic flights,
- Customer wants the psychological reassurance of "ada asuransi"
- Customer who has rejected term-life as "rugi kalau tidak klaim"
- Used as a starter policy in a multi-product agent relationship:
~ Borderline — qualify carefully
- Age 41–57: still within entry age but the maturity-refund value
- Customers comparing this to BPJS Ketenagakerjaan JKM/JKK: BPJS
- Self-employed irregular-income customers: the fixed premium
- Customers in occupations partially excluded (drivers, motorcycle
✕ Not a fit when…
- Customers who genuinely need life insurance — anyone whose family
- Customers seeking critical illness protection: there is no CI
- Customers seeking comprehensive health insurance: hospitalization
- High-net-worth customers needing meaningful SA: the Rp 100M cap
- Customers in explicitly excluded occupations: pilots, aviation
- Customers who travel internationally to "Do Not Travel" advisory
The trade-offs — when it wins, when it doesn’t
No product wins for everyone. Here’s when Asuransi Mandiri Life Protection is the right call — and when a different product is.
BUDGET RP 65K-200K/MONTH, WANTS "ADA ASURANSI" PEACE
Lowest entry premium in the AXA Mandiri agency book. Starter relationship product; the customer is now insurable and in the agent's pipeline.
ALL-CAUSE DEATH PROTECTION FOR FAMILY INCOME
Life Protection covers only accidental death. For income replacement against any cause, term life is the correct structural answer.
CRITICAL ILLNESS PROTECTION
Life Protection has no CI benefit. Do not pitch this product to a CI-seeking customer under any framing.
PERMANENT LEGACY, GUARANTEED COVER TO DEATH
Life Protection covers 5 or 8 years only and is accident-only. It cannot serve as a legacy vehicle.
FREQUENT COMMERCIAL TRAVELER, WANTS PUBLIC-TRANSPORT TOP-UP
2x multiplier on public- transport accidental death is the strongest structural feature; targets the actual risk profile of frequent commercial travelers.
HAS BPJS KETENAGAKERJAAN ALREADY (EMPLOYED FORMAL SECTOR)
BPJS Ketenagakerjaan already covers workplace accidental death (JKK) and general death (JKM, including accidental). Material overlap; marginal benefit unless the customer needs higher SA.
"RUGI KALAU TIDAK KLAIM" OBJECTION TO TERM LIFE
100% premium refund at maturity directly addresses the objection — but only works for 8-yr term and only for accident-only cover. Frame honestly.
WANTS USD-DENOMINATED COVER
Life Protection is IDR-only.
RULE OF THUMB Mandiri Life Protection is a position-and-upsell product. Its highest value is as the first policy in a long agent relationship, not as a standalone solution. If the customer can afford Rp 200k+/ month for life protection, step up to Flexi Proteksi or comparable. Legacy Income agents should treat this as the floor of the AXA Mandiri competitive set, not the benchmark.

⚠ Compliance red flags & mis-selling warnings
1. Product is personal accident, not life insurance
The RIPLAY explicitly classifies this as “Asuransi Jiwa Kecelakaan Diri” (Personal Accident under a life insurance license). The death benefit pays only on accidental death. Selling this product under the framing of “life insurance” — i.e., implying it pays on any-cause death — is a material mis-selling event. POJK 30/2020 (harmonization of insurance product disclosure) and the suitability spirit of POJK 36/2025 require that the customer understand the product type and trigger conditions before purchase. The name “Life Protection” is a marketing label, not a product-type description.
2. Maturity refund is not investment return
The 60% (5-year) and 100% (8-year) premium refund is a nominal return-of-premium feature. It is not investment income, not interest, and not inflation-adjusted. Presenting the refund as “savings” or “investasi” or implying the customer “earns” anything on the policy is mis-selling. The real return is negative in inflation-adjusted terms.
3. Hospitalization benefit (Plan VI–VIII) is accident-only and capped
The accidental inpatient benefit triggers only on accident, not illness, and is capped at Rp 5 million (Plan VI) to Rp 10 million (Plan VIII) per policy year. Outpatient is Rp 500,000–1,000,000 per claim with a maximum of two separate accident incidents per year. Presenting this as comprehensive health cover or as a substitute for a health insurance card is a clear mis-selling risk.
4. Occupation exclusions must be disclosed at point of sale
The RIPLAY excludes pilots, aviation technicians, cabin crew, and workers exposed to listed hazardous substances (asbestos, benzene, arsenic, cadmium, ethylene oxide, benzo[a]pyrene, silica, UV radiation devices, radon, aluminum and coke production, iron and steel raw materials, rubber manufacturing). Selling to a customer in any of these occupations without flagging the exclusion is a material mis-selling event. The travel-warning country exclusion should also be disclosed for customers who travel internationally.
5. BPJS Ketenagakerjaan duplication risk
For formally employed workers with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, the existing JKK (work accident) and JKM (death, including accidental) benefits already provide baseline accidental cover. Selling Life Protection without first checking BPJS Ketenagakerjaan status risks delivering duplicate cover with marginal additional benefit — a suitability concern under OJK consumer protection guidance.
6. No surrender value during coverage period
The RIPLAY discloses a 14-day Masa Pembelajaran Polis (cooling-off period) during which a full refund is available minus administrative costs. After this window, mid-term cancellation results in no refund and no surrender value. Customers who lapse before maturity forfeit both the cover and the refund feature. Selling without this disclosure to customers with unstable cash flow is a suitability risk.
7. Two-policy maximum and benefit-cap rule
The RIPLAY states that a single insured may not be covered by more than two Asuransi Mandiri Life Protection policies. If they are, only the policy with the largest benefit is binding; any others become void with premiums refunded minus any paid benefits. Agents must check existing AXA Mandiri policy holdings before issuing a second or third Life Protection contract.
Internal training guidance. Always confirm against the current RIPLAY/policy — the policy is the binding document.

How Traditional Life products differ
Fully benchmarked · 91% coverageNo product wins every dimension — these are trade-offs, not a scoreboard. Where the dataset can’t yet support hard medians, we show the observed range and the analyst’s read.
Category benchmarks for Traditional Life are still being built.
Coverage caveat: Catalog stubs for the 131-product traditional-life category are HTML-only ('not disclosed on page'); structured numeric data is reliably available only from the subset with fully extracted RIPLAY/brochure PDFs. Automated population-level extraction across the heterogeneous brief corpus yields <60% coverage on every quantifiable metric, so per SKILL Step 4 this category is benchmarked qualitatively. The anchor sample below (5 products with clean PDF data) defines the observed range; it is NOT a category-wide population statistic. (sample: ~69 products)
Expert · full Strategic Brief
1. The 60-Second Pitch
Asuransi Mandiri Life Protection is not a life insurance product in the conventional sense — despite the name. The RIPLAY classifies it as “Asuransi Jiwa Kecelakaan Diri” (Personal Accident insurance). The death benefit pays only if death is caused by an accident. Death from illness, heart attack, cancer, or any non-accidental cause is not covered. Agents and customers who treat this as a substitute for whole-life or all-cause term protection have misunderstood the product.
What it does cover, in six plan variants (Plan III to Plan VIII): accidental death (Rp 50M to Rp 100M sum assured), accidental death on public transport (double the base — Rp 100M to Rp 200M), hospitalization and outpatient costs from accidents (Plan VI–VIII only, capped), and a return-of-premium feature at policy maturity (60% for 5-year term, 100% for 8-year term — Plan III–VI only).
Minimum premium is Rp 65,000/month — by far the lowest entry point in the AXA Mandiri agency book. Coverage term is 5 or 8 years. Entry age is 18 to 60 (5-yr) or 18 to 57 (8-yr).
In one line: a low-premium accident-only policy with a maturity refund, useful as a starter product or an accident top-up, but emphatically not a replacement for life or critical-illness cover.
The analytical opportunity for Legacy Income: this is the product AXA Mandiri agents are most likely to misposition as “life insurance” to budget-constrained prospects. Independent agents who can correctly distinguish accident cover from life cover have a credibility edge.
2. Headline Numbers Decoded
The RIPLAY illustration uses Ibu Endah, age 25, Plan VI, 8-year coverage term, monthly premium Rp 125,000.
No published premium rate table beyond the Plan VI illustration is available in the RIPLAY. Agents must produce a quote in field for any other plan, age, or term combination — AXA Mandiri does not publish a complete premium grid in the public RIPLAY.
Critical insight for agent narrative: the headline “Rp 200 juta accidental death benefit” (Plan VIII public transport) sounds substantial but applies only to a narrow risk window — accidental death while on a licensed scheduled public transport carrier. Statistical incidence of fatal public transport accidents per insured-year is materially lower than fatal road traffic incidents generally, which are in turn far lower than illness-related death. The product is structurally inexpensive because the covered risk is structurally rare.

3. Ideal Customer Profile
Sweet Spot — Lead with Mandiri Life Protection
- Age 22–40, employed, no dependents or one young child
- Monthly income Rp 5M–15M (mass market, budget-constrained)
- Already has BPJS Kesehatan but no private life or CI cover and cannot afford one yet
- Frequent traveler on commercial transport — domestic flights, long-distance bus, intercity rail (the public-transport multiplier becomes meaningful for this segment)
- Customer wants the psychological reassurance of “ada asuransi” at the lowest possible monthly cost (Rp 65,000/month entry)
- Customer who has rejected term-life as “rugi kalau tidak klaim” and finds the 100% return-of-premium feature compelling — but understands this is not investment return
- Used as a starter policy in a multi-product agent relationship: the customer buys accident cover first, then upgrades to Flexi Proteksi or a unit-linked product as income grows
Borderline Fit — Discuss but qualify carefully
- Age 41–57: still within entry age but the maturity-refund value diminishes with shorter remaining horizon; verify the customer truly understands this is accident-only, not life
- Customers comparing this to BPJS Ketenagakerjaan JKM/JKK: BPJS Ketenagakerjaan already provides accidental death and work- injury cover for employed workers; check whether this product is duplicative for that segment
- Self-employed irregular-income customers: the fixed premium schedule and the maturity-refund-or-nothing structure penalize early surrender; assess cash-flow stability
- Customers in occupations partially excluded (drivers, motorcycle delivery, ojek): driving for a living is not explicitly excluded but high-risk-occupation language in the policy creates claim- time ambiguity; flag to underwriting before issue
Do Not Pitch
- Customers who genuinely need life insurance — anyone whose family depends on their income for ongoing support. Death from illness is the dominant cause of mortality in working-age Indonesians; this product covers the minority case. Mis-pitching as life insurance is a major compliance risk.
- Customers seeking critical illness protection: there is no CI benefit, period.
- Customers seeking comprehensive health insurance: hospitalization benefit triggers only on accident, not illness, and is capped at Rp 5–10M per policy year.
- High-net-worth customers needing meaningful SA: the Rp 100M cap is structurally inadequate for any HNW protection planning.
- Customers in explicitly excluded occupations: pilots, aviation technicians, cabin crew, hazardous material workers. The policy excludes accidents arising in the course of these professions at standard rates.
- Customers who travel internationally to “Do Not Travel” advisory destinations: explicit exclusion — claims from accidents in such countries on or after the advisory date are not covered.
4. Decision Framework — When Mandiri Life Protection Beats the Alternatives
5. Product Benchmarking — Mandiri Life Protection vs the Traditional-Life Category
Note: this product is structurally a personal accident policy, not a traditional-life policy as filed. The benchmarking below compares it against the traditional-life category nonetheless, because that is where it sits in the AXA Mandiri agency lineup and where Legacy Income agents will encounter it in field comparisons.
Quantitative benchmarks for the traditional-life category are not yet available (most metrics below the 60% coverage threshold, per category-benchmarks.json computed 2026-05-08). All comparisons below are qualitative.
STRUCTURAL DIMENSIONS
PRODUCT TYPE
Category typical:All-cause death cover (whole-life, endowment, or term), often with CI rider or hospitalization bundle.
Life Protection:Accident-only death cover plus accident medical reimbursement.
Read:Structural outlier. Does not perform the core function customers buy traditional-life for (income replacement on any- cause death).
COVERAGE HORIZON
Category typical:8–20 years for term; to age 88/99 or whole-life for endowment and whole-life products.
Life Protection:5 or 8 years only.
Read:Short horizon limits use as a long-term planning tool; effectively a renewable starter product.
PREMIUM PAYMENT TERM
Category typical:Level pay matching coverage term.
Life Protection:Level pay, follows coverage term.
Read:Standard for the category.
MINIMUM PREMIUM
Category typical:Rp 200k– 500k/month for term products; Rp 1M+/month for whole-life illustrations.
Life Protection:Rp 65,000/ month minimum.
Read:Lowest entry premium in the AXA Mandiri agency book by a significant margin — but the cover is correspondingly narrow.
MINIMUM SUM ASSURED
Category typical:Rp 100M+ for term, Rp 200M+ for whole- life.
Life Protection:Rp 50M (accidental death) up to Rp 100M (Plan VII/VIII).
Read:Low SA cap reflects accident-only structure; not meaningful family-income replacement.
CI COVERAGE
Category typical:Bundled in the better term products (e.g., Flexi Proteksi Plus, Allianz Pasti, AIA Platinum Treasure) or available as a rider.
Life Protection:None.
Read:Significant gap. Cannot serve customers wanting any illness-related lump-sum protection.
HOSPITALIZATION
Category typical:Rare in pure term; bundled in some Max-tier products.
Life Protection:Accidental inpatient + outpatient (Plan VI–VIII only), capped at Rp 5–10M/yr inpatient and Rp 500k–1M/claim outpatient.
Read:Narrow trigger (accident only) and low caps; not a substitute for health card.
MATURITY / SURVIVAL BENEFIT
Category typical:110–120% return of premium where it exists (e.g., Flexi Proteksi); often absent in pure term.
Life Protection:60% (5-yr term) or 100% (8-yr term, Plan III-VI only).
Read:100% return is matched by category peers; 60% (5-yr) is notably weak. Plan VII/VIII (8-yr term) gets no maturity refund — they trade refund for higher hospitalization cap.
CURRENCY
Category typical:IDR-only for mass-market term.
Life Protection:IDR only.
Read:No differentiation.
PUBLIC-TRANSPORT MULTIPLIER
Category typical:Not standard.
Life Protection:2x accidental death benefit if death occurs on licensed scheduled public transport.
Read:This is the product's only genuinely differentiated structural feature in the agency category.
ECONOMIC DIMENSIONS
VALUE RATIO AT ILLUSTRATION
Plan VI, age 25, 8-yr term:
Premiums paid:Rp 12M
Accidental death (PT):Rp 100M
Ratio (PT death):8.3x Ratio (regular accidental
death):4.2x
Read:Acceptable for accident- only cover at young entry age; multiples will compress at older entry. No all-cause death payout to anchor a family-protection value ratio.
MATURITY RETURN
5-yr term: 60% of premiums → annualized -10% to -12% (loss vs paid-in) 8-yr term (Plan III-VI): 100% of premiums → annualized 0% nominal → -3% to -5% real (inflation)
Read:Plan III-VI 8-yr term is structurally rational only if the accident cover itself has been valued by the customer. 5-yr term refund is a small consolation that doesn't offset opportunity cost.
PREMIUM EFFICIENCY INDICATOR
No administration fee
disclosed; cost load embedded
in premium per RIPLAY
Section V.
Read:Transparent fee structure — same as Flexi Proteksi.
PREMIUM WAIVER ON CI / TPD
Not available.
Read:Standard for accident- only products. Not a defect in context, but agents should not imply waiver protection exists.
POSITIONING SUMMARY
WHERE LIFE PROTECTION WINS
Against most products in the
agency book:Rp 65,000/month entry premium is the lowest available — a foot in the door for budget-constrained prospects. Against term-life products
with no refund:Plan III-VI 8-yr term returns 100% of premiums at maturity — direct loss-aversion handler. Against personal accident products from non-life
insurers:distributed through agency channel under a life insurance license, may carry brand credibility for AXA Mandiri loyalists.
Against itself:the 2x public- transport multiplier is a genuine feature for the frequent commercial traveler segment.
WHERE LIFE PROTECTION LOSES
Against Flexi Proteksi Basic:Flexi covers all-cause death starting around Rp 200k/month with 110–120% return of premium — covers the same loss-aversion case for a superior protection scope. Against Allianz LegacyPro: no contest — whole-life vs short-term accident-only. Different products entirely. Against Mandiri Secure
CritiCare:no contest on illness protection. Against standalone health
insurance:hospitalization benefit (Plan VI-VIII) is triggered only by accident and capped at Rp 5–10M/yr inpatient. Not health cover. Against BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for formally employed workers: JKK + JKM already provide baseline accidental death and general death cover; risk of benefit duplication for this segment.
CATEGORICAL POSITIONING
This product is functionally
a personal-accident policy
living in the traditional-life
category. The "traditional-
life" filing reflects the
AXA Mandiri product taxonomy
but does not reflect the
protection scope. Legacy
Income agents should not
benchmark this against Flexi
Proteksi, Allianz Pasti,
LegacyPro, or AIA Platinum
Treasure on protection grounds
— those are categorically
different products.
6. Field Talking Points (EN + ID)
Customer-facing script — use the EN / ID toggle (top-right) to switch language.
Opening — Entry into the conversation
"Before we look at this product, let me set the frame: this
is not a life insurance policy in the way most people think about
it. It’s an accident insurance policy with a return-of-premium
feature. The death benefit pays if you die in an accident — not
if you die from illness. That distinction matters a lot. Are you
looking for accident cover specifically, or are you looking for
something broader?"
"Sebelum kita lihat produknya, saya mau bicara jujur dulu:
luas?"
—
Structural value prop — Plan III/IV (accident death only)
"Plan III and IV are the simplest version — accidental death
only, no hospitalization. Premiums start from Rp 65,000/month. If
you have a fatal accident during the coverage period, the benefit
is Rp 50 million to Rp 75 million. If the accident happens on a
licensed public transport carrier — domestic flight, scheduled bus,
intercity train — the benefit doubles to Rp 100–150 million. If you
survive the full 8 years and never claim, you get 100% of your
premiums back. If nothing happens and you take the 5-year version,
you get 60% back."
"Plan III dan IV itu versi paling sederhana — cuma manfaat
meninggal karena kecelakaan, tanpa rawat inap. Preminya mulai dari
Rp 65.000 per bulan. Kalau kamu meninggal karena kecelakaan dalam
masa asuransi, manfaatnya Rp 50 juta sampai Rp 75 juta. Kalau
kecelakaannya kejadian di transportasi umum berizin — pesawat
domestik, bus terjadwal, kereta antarkota — manfaatnya berlipat dua
jadi Rp 100–150 juta. Kalau kamu selamat sampai 8 tahun dan nggak
pernah klaim, premi kamu balik 100%. Versi 5 tahun balik 60%."
—
Structural value prop — Plan VI/VIII (accident + medical)
"Plan VI and Plan VIII add accident medical — if you’re
hospitalized due to an accident, the policy reimburses your hospital
bill up to Rp 5 million per policy year (Plan VI) or Rp 10 million
(Plan VIII). Outpatient is covered up to Rp 500,000 per claim, twice
a year, but only for two separate accident incidents. Important
caveat: this only triggers for accident — if you’re hospitalized for
illness, this policy does nothing. Plan VIII gives you a higher
medical cap but no maturity refund; Plan VI gives you both, at lower
caps."
"Plan VI dan Plan VIII tambah manfaat medis kecelakaan —
kalau kamu masuk rumah sakit karena kecelakaan, polisnya ganti
biaya sampai Rp 5 juta per tahun polis (Plan VI) atau Rp 10 juta
(Plan VIII).
Plan VIII kasih cap medis lebih tinggi tapi nggak ada premi balik;
Plan VI dua-duanya, tapi cap-nya lebih kecil."
—
Close — Where this product fits in a broader plan
"The honest framing of this product: it covers a narrow risk
slice — accidents — at a low monthly cost. It’s a fine starter
policy if your budget is tight, or a useful add-on if you already
have life and health cover and travel a lot on public transport.
But it does not solve the bigger question of what happens to your
family if you die from illness, which is statistically the more
likely scenario. If you want me to walk through what a more complete
protection structure looks like, I can. Or if accident-only is what
you want, this product can be issued quickly."
"Frame jujur produk ini: dia menutup risiko yang sempit —
kecelakaan — dengan biaya bulanan yang murah. Cocok sebagai polis
awal kalau budget terbatas, atau sebagai tambahan kalau kamu sudah
punya asuransi jiwa dan kesehatan dan sering bepergian dengan
transportasi umum. Tapi dia nggak jawab pertanyaan yang lebih
besar: gimana keluarga kamu kalau kamu meninggal karena sakit —
yang secara statistik lebih mungkin terjadi. Kalau kamu mau saya
jelaskan struktur perlindungan yang lebih lengkap kelihatannya
seperti apa, saya bisa. Kalau memang yang kamu cari cuma kecelakaan,
produk ini bisa diterbitkan cepat."
—
Product-specific positioning — Distinguishing from Flexi Proteksi (sibling)
"Asuransi Mandiri Life Protection and Mandiri Flexi Proteksi
sound similar but are very different products. Flexi Proteksi
covers death from any cause — illness, accident, anything — plus
77 critical illnesses in the Plus and Max plans. Life Protection
covers accidental death only and has no critical illness benefit
at all. The price difference reflects the scope difference: Flexi
Proteksi starts around Rp 200,000/month, Life Protection from
Rp 65,000. If a customer asks ‘why so much cheaper?’, the answer
is that Life Protection covers far less. Both have a return-of-
premium feature, but Flexi Proteksi returns more (110–120% vs
60–100%) and on a broader protection base."
"Asuransi Mandiri Life Protection dan Mandiri Flexi Proteksi
namanya mirip tapi produknya beda jauh. Flexi Proteksi nanggung
meninggal dunia dari semua penyebab — sakit, kecelakaan, apapun —
plus 77 kondisi kritis di Plan Plus dan Max. Life Protection cuma
nanggung meninggal karena kecelakaan, dan nggak ada manfaat
penyakit kritis sama sekali. Beda harganya mencerminkan beda
cakupan: Flexi Proteksi mulai sekitar Rp 200.000/bulan, Life
Protection dari Rp 65.000. Kalau ada nasabah tanya 'kok bedanya
jauh banget?', jawabannya: Life Protection memang nanggung jauh
lebih sedikit. Dua-duanya ada premi balik, tapi Flexi Proteksi
balikinnya lebih banyak (110–120% vs 60–100%) dan basis
perlindungannya jauh lebih luas."

7. Top 5 Customer Objections + Handling
Customer-facing script — use the EN / ID toggle (top-right) to switch language.
Objection 1
EN Question "If this is life insurance, why does it only pay
when I die from an accident? What if I die from cancer or a heart
attack?"
ID Question "Kalau ini asuransi jiwa, kok cuma cair kalau mati
karena kecelakaan? Gimana kalau saya meninggal karena kanker atau
serangan jantung?"
Don't say "All death is technically the same to us — we’ll
make sure your family gets the benefit." (False — this is illness
death, not covered.)
Jangan bilang "Semua kematian itu sama saja buat kami,
nanti keluarga tetap dapat manfaat." (Salah dan menyesatkan.)
Do say "Honest answer: this product is officially classified
as Asuransi Jiwa Kecelakaan Diri — personal accident insurance. The
name has ‘Life’ in it but the structure is accident-only. If you
die from illness, this policy pays nothing on the death benefit.
That’s exactly why the premium is Rp 65,000 instead of Rp 200,000.
If you want all-cause death cover, you need a different product —
Mandiri Flexi Proteksi or a term life from another insurer. I’d
rather you understand this now than be surprised later."
Bilang begini "Jawaban jujur: produk ini secara resmi
masuk kategori Asuransi Jiwa Kecelakaan Diri — asuransi kecelakaan
diri. Namanya pakai kata ‘Life’ tapi strukturnya cuma kecelakaan.
Kalau kamu meninggal karena sakit, manfaat meninggal di polis ini
nggak cair sama sekali. Justru karena itu preminya Rp 65.000 bukan
Rp 200.000. Kalau yang kamu butuh perlindungan meninggal semua
penyebab, produknya beda — Mandiri Flexi Proteksi atau term life
dari perusahaan lain. Mendingan kamu paham sekarang daripada
kaget nanti."
—
Objection 2
EN Question "I already have BPJS Kesehatan and BPJS
Ketenagakerjaan — what do I need this for?"
ID Question "Saya sudah BPJS Kesehatan dan BPJS
Ketenagakerjaan, ngapain saya beli ini?"
Don't say “BPJS isn’t enough, you need this on top.”
(Vague and possibly false for this customer’s specific situation.)
Jangan bilang "BPJS itu nggak cukup, kamu butuh ini
sebagai tambahan." (Tidak jelas dan kemungkinan tidak benar.)
Do say "Honest assessment: if you’re a formally employed
worker with active BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, you already have JKK
(work accident) and JKM (death, including accidental death) cover.
For your specific case, this product may largely duplicate what
you already have. The narrow scenarios where it adds meaningful
value are: very high frequency commercial transport use where
the 2x public-transport multiplier is relevant, or higher SA needs
than BPJS Ketenagakerjaan provides. Otherwise — be cautious. I’m
not the agent who’ll sell you something you don’t need."
Bilang begini "Penilaian jujur: kalau kamu karyawan
mana dia memang menambah nilai: kalau kamu sering banget naik
transportasi umum komersial sampai pengali 2x-nya jadi relevan,
atau kalau SA dari BPJS Ketenagakerjaan kurang besar. Selain itu —
hati-hati. Saya bukan agen yang akan jual sesuatu yang nggak kamu
butuh."

Objection 3
EN Question "If I survive the 8 years, I get 100% of my
premiums back — so it’s basically free insurance, right?"
ID Question "Kalau saya selamat 8 tahun, premi balik 100% —
berarti asuransinya gratis dong?"
Don't say “Yes, basically free protection for 8 years.”
(Misleading — ignores opportunity cost and inflation.)
Jangan bilang "Iya, intinya gratis dapat perlindungan 8
tahun." (Menyesatkan.)
Do say "Mathematically the nominal premium comes back at
100% on Plan III-VI with 8-year term — but that’s nominal Rupiah,
not inflation-adjusted. Rp 12 million in 2026 is worth less than
Rp 12 million in 2034 in real purchasing power. The same Rp 12
million in a 5% deposit would grow to about Rp 17.7 million. The
real cost of the insurance is the opportunity cost — what your
premiums could have earned elsewhere. That’s typically 3–5% per
year in real terms. So ‘free’ isn’t quite the right frame. 'Low
real cost for accident-only cover’ is more accurate."
Bilang begini "Secara matematis premi balik 100% di Plan
III-VI tenor 8 tahun — tapi itu nominal Rupiah, bukan disesuaikan
inflasi.
lain. Biasanya sekitar 3–5% per tahun secara riil. Jadi ‘gratis’
itu agak menyederhanakan. Lebih akurat: 'biaya riil rendah untuk
perlindungan kecelakaan-saja’."

Objection 4
EN Question "Why would I buy this from an agent if the same
product is at Bank Mandiri?"
ID Question "Kenapa saya beli ini dari agen kalau produk yang
sama ada di Bank Mandiri?"
Don't say “Agents give better service.” (Vague.)
Jangan bilang “Agen pelayanannya lebih bagus.” (Tidak
spesifik.)
Do say "Honest answer: the product terms are identical
whether you buy at the bank counter or through an agent — AXA
Mandiri distributes through both channels. What differs is the
advisory relationship. A bank teller has limited time and a sales
target on the day; an independent agent reviews your existing
cover, flags whether you actually need this product or whether it
duplicates BPJS, and stays accountable when you need to claim or
change something later. For a Rp 65,000/month decision the bank
channel is fine. For broader protection planning, agent advisory
matters more."
Bilang begini "Jawaban jujur: syarat produknya sama
persis baik beli di kasir bank atau via agen — AXA Mandiri
distribusikan via dua jalur. Yang beda adalah hubungan advisory-
nya.
penting."

Objection 5
EN Question "What counts as an ‘accident’? Does food poisoning
count? Drowning? A fall from stairs?"
ID Question "‘Kecelakaan’ itu termasuk apa saja? Keracunan
makanan masuk nggak? Tenggelam? Jatuh dari tangga?"
Don't say "Anything that’s not illness counts as
accident." (Oversimplified and risk-creating.)
Jangan bilang “Semua yang bukan sakit dihitung kecelakaan.”
(Terlalu menyederhanakan.)
Do say "The RIPLAY defines accident specifically: a sudden,
unexpected event from an external cause, not deliberate, with
provable physical force or medical diagnosis, that is the sole
direct cause of injury or death. So a fall from stairs that breaks
a bone — yes. Drowning — generally yes. Food poisoning — borderline,
depends on whether it meets the ‘sudden, external, sole cause’
criteria; typically not if it’s a known illness. There’s also a
90-day causation window — the death or hospitalization must occur
within 90 calendar days of the accident event, with some specific
exceptions for toxic substance exposure. The full definition is
in Section IX of the RIPLAY. Before you buy, I’d strongly recommend
reading that section together with me — claim disputes typically
arise where the customer’s understanding of ‘accident’ differs
from the policy definition."
tangga sampai patah tulang — iya. Tenggelam — umumnya iya.
Keracunan makanan — abu-abu, tergantung apakah memenuhi kriteria
‘mendadak, eksternal, satu-satunya penyebab’; biasanya nggak kalau
itu penyakit yang sudah dikenal. Ada juga jendela kausalitas 90
hari — kematian atau rawat inapnya harus dalam 90 hari kalender
sejak kejadian kecelakaan, dengan pengecualian spesifik untuk
paparan zat beracun. Definisi lengkapnya ada di Bagian IX RIPLAY.
Sebelum beli, saya sangat sarankan kita baca bagian itu bareng —
sengketa klaim biasanya muncul kalau pemahaman nasabah soal
‘kecelakaan’ beda dari definisi polisnya."

8. Compliance Red Flags & Mis-Selling Warnings

10. Action Items for Legacy Income (next 30 days)
-
Train agents on the “Life vs Accident” distinction. This is the single most important takeaway from this brief. Agents meeting prospects who already hold Mandiri Life Protection (or are being pitched it) should be able to clearly explain that this is accident-only cover. A one-page agent reference highlighting the death-benefit trigger comparison (Life Protection: accident-only / Flexi Proteksi: any cause / Allianz term: any cause / LegacyPro: any cause whole-life) should be distributed to all agents. Target: complete by 2026-05-23.
-
Identify Bank Mandiri customers in pipeline who may have been pitched Life Protection at the bank counter. These customers may believe they have life insurance when they have personal accident insurance only. Legacy Income agents have a clear value-add: review the customer’s actual coverage, flag the accident-only scope, and propose a complete protection structure (e.g., Flexi Proteksi for all-cause + Life Protection as accident top-up if cash flow allows). Target: agent conversations by 2026-05-25.
-
Frame Mandiri Life Protection as the “Rp 65k/month entry product” in agent training materials. This is the lowest- premium AXA Mandiri agency product. Legacy Income agents working budget-constrained prospects should know it exists and be able to position alternatives competitively at the same price point. Pull comparable accident-only products from Allianz (Personal Accident), Manulife, or BCA Life for premium and benefit comparison at the Rp 65–125k monthly range. Target: competitive grid by 2026-05-26.
-
Flag the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan overlap as a suitability talking point. For prospects who are formally employed with active BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, the existing JKK and JKM benefits provide a baseline of accidental cover. Agents should ask about BPJS Ketenagakerjaan status as a standard discovery question before discussing Mandiri Life Protection or any other accident- focused product. This positions the agent as a genuine advisor rather than a product pusher. Target: discovery script update by 2026-05-22.
-
Do not benchmark this product against traditional-life protection products on protection grounds. The category filing is misleading. Mandiri Life Protection should not appear in side-by-side comparisons with Flexi Proteksi Basic, Allianz Pasti, AIA Platinum Treasure, or LegacyPro as a peer protection product — those are different product types. If comparison is needed, benchmark only against other personal accident products (PA category) and frame explicitly as “accident cover comparison” not “life cover comparison.” This is a compliance and accuracy point — flag to agency compliance lead and to the market-intelligence pipeline lead so the inventory category filing can be reviewed in a future scan cycle.
This brief is generated by AI and may contain mistakes. Please exercise discretion. It is intended as an internal user training and positioning resource, not as a customer-facing sales document. All statements about the product are reconstructed from the official RIPLAY as downloaded 2026-04-25 (brochure unavailable); the policy itself is the binding document. Compliance disclosures, competitor comparisons, and customer-fit guidance reflect analyst judgment and should be reviewed by user before being deployed in agent training materials.
